Peshawari chicken karahi recipe | Murgh Peshawari karahi


Peshawari Chicken Karahi recipe or Murgh Peshawari karahi is an easy to make and a best chicken karahi recipe among various other karahi recipes which is cooked using both ghee and oil. This is basically a pakistani chicken karahi recipe originated from a place named peshawar in pakistan. The combination of ghee and oil gives a restaurant style taste to the recipe.

Also this recipe needs very few ingredients and little spices. With very few ingredients and little amount of spices this peshawari chicken curry tastes heavenly. Tomatoes in this recipe give a

nice tangy taste and also haldi (turmeric powder) is skipped in this recipe. If you want haldi then you can, but it's just optional. The red colour imparted from tomatoes itself is enough to make the recipe look vibrant.

Chicken Peshawari recipe goes well with flavoured rices like Bagara Rice or jeera rice and you can serve it with traditional recipe Pulihora or steamed rice as well. This suits better for rotis, naans, phulkas and other breads. I served this Peshawari Murgh with Bagara Rice. Do try with this rice and relish its yumminess.

Ingredients for peshawari chicken karahi recipe | Murgh Peshawari Karahi


1. Chicken - 250 gms
2. Onions - 3
3. Green Chillies - 2
4. Tomatoes - 6 (i.e. 200 gms)
5. Coriander Leaves - 5 to 6 sprigs
6. Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tbsp
7. Salt - To Taste
8. Pepper Powder - 1 tbsp
9. Red Chilli Powder - 2 tsps
10. Garam Masala Powder - 1/2 tsp
11. Ghee - 2 tbsps
12. Oil - 2 tbsps
13. Water - 1 cup

Instructions: 

How to make Peshawari chicken karahi recipe


1. Heat both ghee and oil in a pan

2. Once the ghee and oil become hot add ginger garlic paste and saute for a minute

3. Now add sliced onions, green chillies and cook till onions turn transparant

4. Now add washed chicken pieces, mix once and cook till chicken turns pale and soft

5. Once chicken is nicely cooked add chopped tomatoes and mix

6. Cover and cook till tomatoes turn mushy

7. Now add salt, pepper powder, red chilli powder and garam masala powder

8. Mix nicely cover and cook for 2 more minutes

9. Now add coriander leaves, water and mix, cover and cook for 2 more minutes till oil floats on top of the chicken

10. You can serve this Peshawari Chicken Karahi or Murgh Peshawari Karahi with Bagara Rice or phulka, naan etc.
