sorakaya pappu recipe

Frankly speaking I am not at all a fan of sorakaya. I eat it only because it is like any other vegetable I am supposed to eat. But I love sweets or snacks made with it. This is the very first time in my life so far, to make dal by adding bottle gourd in it.

I was making faces while preparing this recipe, but when I tasted bottle gourd dal, it was awesome. I loved the tangy dal with a hint of tomato in it and soft bottle gourd pieces tasted juicy and yummy. And since then I decided that i am gonna include this recipe in my meal routine.

We can make dals, curries, gravies, raithas and snacks with bottle gourd. You can have the juice as well, bottle gourd helps in weight loss, so it is better to include it in our diet in any form.

I have have also made a dessert recipe using bottle gourd named Sorakaya Halwa or kaddu ki kheer hyderabadi style, Kadhu ka Kheer is a famous hyderabadi delicacy as popular as Hyderabadi Biryani.

Do check out my other recipes sorakaya pesara pappu and Sorakaya Pulusu too.
